Turning to God for Renewal This September

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

As we head into September and all of the excitement that newness brings it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Turning inward to God is a wonderful way to ensure that we are feeling and doing our best. Turning to God aligns our thoughts with His, and that gives us energy, joy, a fresh perspective, and a renewed mind. But, how can we go from feeling angry, overwhelmed and unfulfilled to turning to God? How do we pray when we are struggling with these feelings? Jesus Christ taught us the Lord’s Prayer and Jesus assured us that “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him” and then he gave us the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:8-13). We begin right where we are. Saying the Lord’s Prayer as often as we need to brings calmness and peace. Another prayer can simply be “God, guide me in everything that I do today.” We can reach out to God, however feels natural to us. Spending whole-hearted moments every day with God is natural and essential to our well being. No matter where we are or how we feel, we can slow the mind, stay calm in the current, and turn to God daily, hourly, or multiple times a day. Turning to God eliminates fear, brings healing, establishes harmony and the deep peace that renews our mind and transforms us. That is God’s promise.
