Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2
As we head into September and all of the newness it brings, one of the best things that we can do for ourselves is to turn inward to God in prayer. Turning to God aligns our thoughts with His, and that gives us energy, joy, a fresh perspective, and a renewed mind. But, how do we go from feeling angry and unfulfilled to turning to God? How do we pray? Jesus assured us that “Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him” and then he gave us the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:8-13). We can begin right where we are. Saying the Lord’s Prayer as often as we need to brings calmness and peace. Another prayer can simply be “God, guide me in everything that I do today.” We can reach out to God, however feels natural to us. Spending whole-hearted moments every day with God is vital and essential to our well-being. No matter where we are or how we feel, we can slow our mind, stay calm in the current, and turn to God every day. Turning to God eliminates fear, brings healing and the deep peace that renews our mind and transforms us. That is God’s promise.
