About River

How a quiet river became a metaphor for learning to rest in God’s steady presence.

A single, smooth river stone resting at the very edge of a calm river, its surface darkened by a recent touch of water, with tiny droplets still clinging to its textured face. Around it, fine sand and smaller pebbles create subtle patterns, while the water nearby forms delicate ripples. Soft golden-hour sunlight brushes across the scene from the side, casting a gentle, elongated shadow of the stone and creating warm highlights on the wet surfaces. Shot at a low, close-up angle with a shallow depth of field, the background riverbank fades into a soft blur, evoking stillness, reflection, and the quiet strength found in trusting something greater than oneself.
A weathered wooden bench overlooking a broad, slowly moving river, placed on a small grassy rise above the waterline. The bench’s grain is visible, with soft cracks and knots that hint at years of exposure and endurance. Around it, tall reeds sway slightly, and a few fallen autumn leaves collect near the legs. The sky is filled with layered, soft gray clouds, and diffused late-afternoon light creates a muted, introspective palette of greens, browns, and silvers. Photographed at eye level with the bench in the foreground and the river stretching into the distance, the composition feels open and inviting, suggesting a place of prayerful reflection and learning to rely on unseen currents.

A Journey into Trusting God

River Nith flows out of years of wrestling with doubt, prayer, and the slow work of grace. I write as a fellow pilgrim, learning to trust God in ordinary days, unanswered questions, and the quiet places of the heart.

Beliefs

I trust God as the living source of wisdom, revealed through Scripture, creation, and Christ. This blog invites patient, honest reflection, where questions are welcomed and surrender grows slowly, like a river carving its way home.

A tranquil, medium-width river winding gently through a lush valley, its surface smooth like glass and reflecting the soft colors of an overcast sky. River stones in muted grays and warm browns line the banks, with tall grasses and wildflowers bending slightly toward the water. Soft, diffused afternoon light removes harsh shadows, creating a contemplative, almost hushed atmosphere. Photographed from a slightly elevated angle with the river leading from the foreground into the distant hills, the composition invites the eye to travel inward, suggesting a quiet journey of spiritual growth and surrender without any overt religious symbols.
